Shane aka "Frankenstein" is originally from Austin, Texas. He moved to San Diego 6 months ago to leave his troubles behind in hopes to get his life back on track. My amazing friends @HyundaiUSA provided me with their #NewSonata to drive around San Diego to offer free haircuts to the homeless! Just a few moments after I exited off of the freeway, Shane was right there, with a sign that had one word on it- one word that we all don't ever want to feel... but know the feeling very well. One word that far too many human beings and living creatures die from every single day. His sign simply said, "HUNGRY." Shane was drawing on the back of his cardboard sign when I first approached him. When I asked him what his dream job was, he said he wants to be an artist and musician. He owns a guitar that he keeps in a hidden location on the streets and wished he had a small storage unit to protect his belongings. As of now, he sleeps in the backyard of a vacant home where the owner and neighbors just let him be without giving him any issues. After his haircut, I simply asked him what he wanted to eat- something he has been craving for a long time. As human beings, we all know how good it feels to be given a choice- rather than being given things we don't necessarily care for. Just because someone is homeless doesn't mean they want your scraps or leftovers or your bag of chips that YOU didn't like. Let's face it, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to eat my random leftovers. We walked together to a nearby gourment burger restaurant where I witnessed him indulge in his favorite meal- but only after he told them that they forgot his pickles and needed more salt & pepper 😆- my point is, we are all unique individuals with unique desires that make us happy- that only we can decide for ourselves. #BeAwesomeToSomebody#California#ad#SanDiego
